Moms and Dads, have you bought anything on CraigsList for your baby/toddler? If so, what?

I’m curious to know what M? Tter (and V? Ter f) on Craigslist? R their children have purchased? Was that what you got worth the price and you get you seem to be “what you pay for?” In addition, the ad on Craigslist game of the condition of the item, if you went to pick it up? I’m looking f? R looking for a jogging stroller (or double jogging stroller) there and am looking f? R experience before I make any offers. Thanks!

I’ve bough a bunch of things on CL. The first thing I ever bought was a Step2 inflatable basketball court for my then 1year old son. It was in perfect condition and only cost $12. I would suggest telling the seller what you are willing to pay but tell them you would like to look at the stroller before you pay for it to make sure it is in the condition you want. Most people won’t have a problem with that.

I’ve gotten most of my baby gear from Craigslist. My thoughts are if i spend less he can have more.
I have bought a car seat, stroller, swing, lots of clothes, highchair and pack in play. I’m happy with most of everything. You do need to ask certain questions such as:

Does it come from a smoke (or animal if your allergic) free home?
What is the brand and model number? (to check for recalls)
And always always ask for pictures.

I’m lookin g for a jogging stroller aswel.

Most of the things i’ve bought on craigslist have been great… if the person looks ad acta strange/suspicious its probably not a good idea. and you can also just look at an item and if its not what you want you dot have to buy it. =]i bought classic pooh nursery decor and they were just fine.

I bought a purple Bumbo seat from Craigslist. The item matched the description perfectly…it was slightly used. It was only $10 where as they are $40 or so new! It was well worth it. The woman I bought it from was very nice. That was the only thing I got from there. I was looking for a jumper but couldn’t find the one I wanted. Good luck to you. If you want to, you could always tell the person if you aren’t satisfied with the condition of the product, you won’t accept it.

Sure have. We bought Noah’s swing(FP Nature’s touch cradle swing), the laugh and learn chair, two outdoor climbers, and recently bought an Ergo carrier for the new baby. Everything was as stated on the ad and I always search for ads with photos or ask for photos before I go take a look at it.

In my experience it’s been great. The items are used, obviously, but are still in fairly good condition to where we’ve gotten our money’s worth. We’ll be using the swing again for this baby and bought the outdoor climbers for $10 and $15 and they are holding up extremely well.

    Ahh…

    Swing- $10
    Stroller/ car seat- free
    Bassinet- $30
    Books- $1-5
    Bedding Set -$15
    Bottle Warmer -$5
Glider- $20 plus they threw in a free boppy and ottomen
Changing Table- $10 plus the pad and covers :)
    Sling-rider
    Evenflo Sling

Um.. Probably alot more but I can’t think of it right now, and I haven’t actually had a baby yet. Everything was in wonderful condition and sold by great people! The key is to stay cheap or nobody will buy it, I see expensive stuff on there all the time and it never sells and just gets reposted over and over.

We haven’t bought much because this is our first baby and we wanted everything new. But I did buy an activity mat that is no longer for sale at stores. It was $30 but almost brand new and perfect!

I bought a double stroller for 50 bucks. I guess it was a fine deal.

Yes – a double stroller. I got it for $40 and it cost about $250 brand new. It was in really good condition, but it was missing a clip-on tray that was needed to attach an infant carseat to it, so we could only use it as a double once my youngest was old enough to ride in the regular seat. Still, we got a good deal.

I haven’t bought anything off of CraigsList. But I have bought quite a few things off of Kijiji.
I’ve gotten an exersaucer, my daughters birthday present, a few small toys and a high chair off of Kijiji. They have all been worth the money for us.

If you go somewhere and the item is nowhere near what was advertised, you can simply say “This isn’t exactly what I was expecting. Sorry for wasting your time”.

I bought my glider off of craigslist, along with our changing table. It worked wonderfully!

I bought a bunch of clothes off of craigslist while I was pregnant. Before I found out what it was, I stocked up on both boys and girls clothes in various sizes, and it was all cheap and they looked clean and barely used. Since babies grow so fast, instead of spending tons of money on clothes they will out grow in a few weeks, why not just buy them used by other mothers, and save a ton of money. I even got brand new outfits for 1-2 dollars. Craigslists is the best for baby items!

We bought a jogging stroller from Craigslist for $45. It was in excellent condition, and had only been used a few times [someone had bought them another one shortly after they got this one.] It serves it’s purpose, and was much cheaper than buying brand new. This is the only item we’ve gotten off Craigslist, but we would definitely make other purchases in the future!
