I have the Nautilus and like it. We’ve had it about a year now.

Its a good price and good protection. I think it’s a bit bulky, but all the convertible ones are.

Nautilus is not a convertable carseat. Convertables can rearface to around 35 pounds (recommended till at least age two for safety) and then forward face.

Nautilus is a *combination* seat. It can forward face with a harness to 65 pounds then turn into a booster. It does not rearface and your child is still young enough that he should be rearfacing.

Every step ‘up’ in carseats is a step down in safety. I recently bought a pair of Nautilus seats for my 5 yr old and my nearly 4 year old so they could remain harnessed longer. It was safer to leave them harnessed… they were each rearfacing till about a year ago because that is also safer.

Because the Nautilus does not rearface I would *not* recommend it for a one year old. I’d recommend getting a cheap Scenera till it is outgrown rearfacing *then* getting a Nautilus. It is a great seat… just not for such a small child.
